Okay, we've heard of kitten heels, but a cat purse?

Stacy Haiduk from "The Young and the Restless" gave red carpet photogs more than they bargained for when she showed up at the Daytime Emmy Awards Sunday night carrying "Kitty," her soap opera character's extremely realistic prop cat as a purse.

While her Y&R character has an unhealthy relationship with her dead stuffed cat, in real life, Haiduk is an animal lover (she even has a cat tattoo on her ankle). Earlier this year, she told TV Guide she often rehearses with her three cats on her bed, though that may because her character, mentally unstable Mary Jane Benson, enjoys having long conversations with her taxidermy pet.

As far as having Kitty as a costar, she told TV Guide, "I don't want to say she's my favorite co-star, but Kitty is amazing to work with... The whole Y&R cast jokes about Kitty. We love her."

It seems clear to us from her TV Guide interview that bringing Kitty to the Emmy's was a nod to her and Kitty's fans, but it brings up a good question. Carrying one's pet around is in vogue, right? And, if people are already wearing their pets' ashes as jewelry and using their ashes in pillows, is carrying around a stuffed pet-turned-purse the next step? Would you do it?

I think it possibly sets a BAD precident... there are enough loons out there to do this to a real kitty... just for the sake of "fashion". This Y&R "starlet" should know better. She should use her celebrity to bring attention to the needs of cats...ferel, homeless, mistreatment...whatever...rather than bring negative attention to herself and waste an opportunity.

ok this woman is as fruity as the character she plays. Being an animal lover does not mean you carry around a dead ass looking cat. I don't even like cats and would never do such a thing. Seems her character is not so far off the mark from herself.

I'm confused? How is a prop from the set, a stuffed cat, used as a purse? Do they mean instead of or did she stuff her lipstick and whatever in the dead cat's mouth? In very bad taste no matter what she did.

nadabrainiac#4 nadabrainiac9-01-2009 @ 7:50PM

maybe it wasn't the mouth...

CINDY#5 CINDY9-03-2009 @ 10:07AM

TANA : I could'nt agree with you more !! That's straight-up, down-right WEIRD!!! I do believe that it's probably just another stunt on the part of a well known person, to get ATTENTION!!!! And I guess it's WORKING !! Oh well ! Whatever floats your boat !!

II don't think a stuffed cat's mouth opens so her cell and lipstick probably went in the other end. What did the powers that be at Y&R think by letting her out with a prop anyway? You don't see the guy playing Victor pulling around the dog to any award shows or anything else so there must be rules to follow. Y&R should really crack down on her... I'm not liking the story line with her anyway.

I think it is like taking your pet and going to the taxidermist and having all degutted to make a pocketbook

CARLY#8 CARLY9-01-2009 @ 6:34PM

HA HA HA HA Laureen I needed that laugh. I love cats and this creeps me out.

stuffed as in not real stuffed cat, or stuffed as in dead taxidermied stuffed cat? If it's the latter, that's disgusting!

I have a brown tabby with bob tail that rules also.

Will hate to see Bob go, he does what he wants.

OMG Do ANY of you watch the show Y&R???? Her character talks to a dead cat, thinks its real. So her using the cat as a purse is FUNNY if you watch the show. I ADORE CATS! I own 3 & I volunteer at a cat/kitten rescue center. You would think it's funny if you watch the show, all she is doing is playing on the obvious mental illness of her character. It was hysterical when Jack looked at the cat & said ''Is that cat DEAD?" He looked at MaryJane like 'What a LOON!!"

noone#13 noone9-03-2009 @ 9:11AM

Thanks for bringing this to some people's attention!!!!!! I don't watch the show, don't 'do' T.V.! But I understood the story (unlike some people) & yes, I am LOL!!!!!!! It's FUNNNEEEEEE!
Ever wonder why people correct grammer, spelling etc??? Maybe they are professional BLOGGERS???? Oh CRAP! Now I'm real worried!!!!!!! LOL!

Thank you... I think you have to be a Y&R fan to appreciate this one.

I think it's funny.. i think it shows the actresses sense of humor.
Her character is known for her relationship with this stuffed cat.

terri#15 terri9-03-2009 @ 11:38AM

Yeah, we Y&R watchers get it. But why do we watch that DUMB show? LOL @ Kitty.

ev#16 ev9-03-2009 @ 12:20PM

RIGHT if you watch the show, you get it and its hilarious, even to cat lovers, she is showing that the whole cat attachment of the character in the show is both funny and cute, and in the show she is always with the fake cat, I thought it was hysterical, especially that people were judging her for "wearing" it.
She sure got herself lots of attention!

laureen#17 laureen9-01-2009 @ 11:08PM

It isn't any funnier on the show than it is here, or on the red carpet. I don't think it is a real cat that has been stuffed but the whole idea of the thing is just sick and I do not like cats at all. Y & R got too stupid on this one.

GetReal#18 GetReal9-03-2009 @ 6:52AM

What an idiot.......You wanna know why most aspiring actors don't make it in Hollywood? Their IQ is too high...........

Sue#19 Sue9-03-2009 @ 7:10AM

There are worse things in this world that we should be worried about. Not this! Who cares? It's stuffed and not real.

STupIdStuff#20 STupIdStuff9-03-2009 @ 7:15AM

This woman is out of her mind. What a stupid way to get attention. Animals should be respected and this does nothing to respect them.
